In October 1991, the regional memorial museum of Y.Altynsarin, an outstanding Kazakh educator, was opened in the city of Kostanay.

This beautiful oriental-style building is located in the historical and architectural part of the city next to the monument to Ybyrai Altynsarin and the Y. Altynsarin Boarding school for gifted children, founded by him in 1884.

Currently, there are more than 11 thousand exhibits in the museum's collections, the average attendance of the museum is about 30,000 people per year. The museum's activities are carried out in several directions: acquisition of museum funds, accounting, study and storage of exhibits, popularization of historical and cultural heritage, exposition and exhibition and scientific and educational activities. Purposeful research work is underway to restore a more complete history of the pedagogical heritage of Ybyrai Altynsarin, his followers and the education of the region as a whole.
